U.S. shares higher at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.04%

U.S. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Utilities and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.04% to hit a new all time high, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.18%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG), which rose 1.42% or 2.00 points to trade at 142.85 at the close. Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO) added 1.22% or 0.67 points to end at 55.81 and UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) was up 1.15% or 5.15 points to 454.64 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which lost 2.29% or 1.13 points to trade at 48.28 in late trade. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) declined 1.85% or 0.91 points to end at 48.31 and Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shed 1.44% or 3.06 points to 209.81.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Coty Inc (NYSE:COTY) which rose 7.25% to 8.580, United Parcel Service Inc (NYSE:UPS) which was up 6.95% to settle at 218.07 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) which gained 6.70% to close at 247.17.

The worst performers were Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) which was down 11.80% to 331.91 in late trade, Xerox Corp (NASDAQ:XRX) which lost 11.42% to settle at 18.22 and Universal Health Services Inc (NYSE:UHS) which was down 5.62% to 126.17 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Inspira Technologies Oxy BHN Ltd (NASDAQ:IINN) which rose 308.09% to 9.59, Bimi International Medical Inc (NASDAQ:BIMI) which was up 225.00% to settle at 2.2100 and Troika Media Group Inc (NASDAQ:TRKA) which gained 50.27% to close at 2.750.

The worst performers were Phunware Inc (NASDAQ:PHUN) which was down 39.25% to 4.3500 in late trade, Remark Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:MARK) which lost 30.79% to settle at 2.1800 and Digital World Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:DWAC) which was down 29.56% to 59.07 at the close.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1842 to 1398 and 138 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2138 fell and 1590 advanced, while 174 ended unchanged on the New York Stock Exchange.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.86% to 15.98.
